Hello and welcome to Sunbird Therapeutic Services! We're sincerely glad that you're here. My name is Tandrea Thysell a California-based licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT). You may be asking, "Why a sunbird?" Please allow me to explain: they represent resilience, joy, adaptability, vibrance and optimism--all the things you're aiming for. You're here, after all, right? The practice is recently established, however, I have been providing therapy for most of my life and more officially for more than 10 years. I have worked as a CPS Social Worker, middle school substitute teacher and mentor to many. I also have more than 40 years of lived experience in areas such as HIV/AIDS, Substance Use, generational trauma, grief and loss and more. My communication style is direct, honest, upfront and straight-from-the-hip. I offer very real, personable, and transparent counseling to those who avail themselves of my services. In addition to other listed specialties, I offer faith-based and justice-impacted counseling.
